I hope that you are as excited about studying English as we are at NSW. Over the next year we are going to explore a host of new things, from poetry to advertising and creative writing. We will also be looking at some great literature like Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and George Orwell's Animal Farm. Be sure to read the Introduction to English 9 and study the Scope and Sequence Document (SSD), both of which are in this section of the NSW learning portal.

We are going to explore a host of great activities including great works of literature, creative writing, presenting ideas logically and clearly, developing precise and imaginative vocabulary and much more! Do look over the scope and sequence document before you get started.
Starting September 2024. This course prepares students for the CAIE IGCSE examination in First Language English (0500). Cambridge IGCSE First Language English is designed for learners whose first language is English. The course enables learners to: develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing. use a wide range of vocabulary, and the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Language is a gift from God that allows us to communicate and connect with others. The IGCSE English Language course teaches the mechanics and beauty of language, reminding us of the power of words to shape thoughts, actions, and relationships.
This course prepares students for the CAiE IGCSE examination in English Literature (0475). Cambridge IGCSE Literature in English offers learners the opportunity to read, interpret, evaluate and respond to a range of literature in English. The range includes drama, prose and poetry from the works of Shakespeare to contemporary literature. Lots to look forward to! Literature reflects the human experience, and the Bible is a testament to this. The IGCSE English Literature course introduces works of literature from different times, cultures, and perspectives, revealing the power of stories to shape our worldview and relationships.

In Year English, we are going to explore a host of great activities as well as studying some really interesting literature - such as Charles Dicken's spooky story, "A Christmas Carol". Do take some time to look over the Welcome to English 8 document as well as the Scope and Sequence Document. You will see that the course is made up of three modules, which are sub-divided into weekly lessons. We begin with 'A Christmas Carol' which we will, rather appropriately, study right up to Christmas! There's plenty more to look forward to!

We are going to explore a host of great activities as well as studying CS Lewis' great story, "The Magician's Nephew' the story that gets the whole Narnia series going! Make sure you have a read of the Scope & Sequence document and the Overview of the course. The English 7 course is divided into Modules and Lessons. Modules can last for three or four weeks and are divided up into weekly lessons.
